How to attach surveys to events

Learn how to attach existing surveys to an event to solicit feedback.

Scenario

As an administrator, content owner, or presenter you want to attach a survey to an event to solicit feedback from attendees.

Solution

This process is for attaching a survey to an event. To learn how to attach a survey to a non-event content item (track, course, article, or video), see How to attach surveys to non-event content items.

  1. If you do not have a survey to attach to the event yet, create one in the Surveys dashboard. Check out How to create surveys for more.

  2. Access the event you want to attach a survey to.
    ​

  3. Open the context menu (the three dots in the upper right) and select Edit.

  4. Scroll down to Surveys.
    The Surveys pane is open if there are already surveys attached. If not, click Surveys to open the pane.
    ​

  5. Click Attach another survey (or Attach survey if none are attached yet).
    A Survey pane opens.

  6. In Survey Template begin typing the survey name and select the one you want from the menu that appears.

  7. Specify when the Survey Opens and when the Survey Closes.
    Options are based on the start/end time of the event.

  8. Click Save in the upper right corner of the page to save your edits.
    The survey is added to the event and will be emailed to attendees at the Survey Opens time you specified.

Surveys and event types

Attaching a survey to an event type ensures that all iterations of that event have the same survey attached. This can be overwritten at the event level so that its surveys can be unique from other iterations of the event type, or have its own Survey Opens and Survey Closes times.

Surveys for events versus non-event content items

Surveys for events are sent based on their start/end times. Surveys for non-event content items (tracks, courses, articles, and videos) are sent based on when the content item is assigned or when they are completed.
