Scenario
You've generated flashcards for a video, but a couple of the questions miss the point, and there's one key concept you'd like learners to check themselves on.
Until now you could edit or delete generated cards, but you couldn't add your own, and every learner saw the same five cards.
The Question Manager turns each content item's flashcards into a question bank. You decide how many questions the AI generates, and you can add, edit, or remove questions yourself.
Each time a learner opens Flashcards, they get a fresh random set from the bank.
Solution
The Question Manager is on the Flashcards tab of a content item's edit view. It works on videos, courses, and guides.
Note: The Question Manager is being turned on site by site. If your courses and guides don't have a Flashcards tab, or your video's Flashcards tab doesn't show a Question Manager section, it isn't on for your site yet. Contact your PlusPlus team if you'd like it turned on.
Who can use it: Admins and Organizers, the item's owner, the owner of its channel, and the item's facilitators (Curators on videos, Maintainers on guides).
Learners never see the Question Manager. They only see the Flashcards it powers.
Step 1: Open the Question Manager
Open the content item and select Edit. The Flashcards tab only appears on items that have already been saved, not while you're creating a new one.
Select the Flashcards tab (next to Content & Details and Settings).
Expand Question Manager.
The first time you open it, PlusPlus analyzes the content to work out how many questions it can support. You'll see "Gathering info and preparing your question bank…" while that runs.
If it takes more than a minute, select Check again.
What the AI reads:
Videos: the transcript, AI summary, captions, chapters, title, and description.
Guides: the published guide content and description.
Courses: the course description. It doesn't read the course files themselves.
The item needs at least a transcript, a summary, or a description. The more real content it has, the better the questions will be.
For videos, make sure the transcript is in place first. For courses, a detailed description makes a big difference.
Step 2: Generate questions
Under Questions, PlusPlus shows how many questions the content can support (up to 100).
Use the slider to choose how many to generate. The minimum is 2.
Select Generate.
Questions appear in the table as they're created. While generation is running, search, adding, and other actions are paused. You'll see Question generation complete when it's done.
If it takes a while, generation keeps running in the background and the questions will be there when you come back.
Each generated question is multiple choice, with three choices and one correct answer, plus an explanation. The explanation notes which part of the content the question came from; for videos with timing data, it also adds a timestamp to jump to.
Regenerating replaces everything. Once the bank has questions, the button changes to Regenerate all. Regenerating deletes every current question, including ones you added or edited by hand.
If regeneration fails, your previous questions are kept.
Step 3: Review and curate the bank
The table lists each question with its correct answer, 25 per page by default (you can switch to 5, 15, 50, or 100).
Search: Use the Search box to find questions by any word in the question, its choices, or its explanation.
Add a question: Select Add Question and fill in the Question, Choice A, Choice B, Choice C, and Explanation. Select the radio button next to the correct choice (Choice A is selected by default), then select Save. Questions you add go to the end of the list.
Edit a question: Open the ⋮ menu on a row, select Edit, make your changes, then select Save.
Delete a question: Open the ⋮ menu and select Delete (or select Delete inside the edit window), then confirm.
Delete several at once: Tick the checkboxes for the questions you want to remove, then select Bulk Actions → Delete all selected. The header checkbox selects only the questions on the current page.
Changes in the Question Manager are saved immediately; you don't need to save the form.
Deleting questions can't be undone.
Step 4: Turn on Flashcards for learners
Expand the Flashcards section on the same tab.
Turn the switch On. It stays disabled, with the message Generate questions first, until the bank has at least one question.
In Questions, set how many flashcards learners get per session. The default is 5.
Select Save at the bottom of the form. Unlike question edits, these two settings only take effect once you save.
Tip: Admins can set defaults for Display Flashcards and Number of Flashcards at the channel level under Gen AI settings. Each item's own settings still take priority. See How cascaded settings work.

What learners see
Learners see a Flashcards card ("Test your knowledge") on the video, course, or guide page.
Each time they open it, or select Try Again, they get a new random selection from the bank, in the number you set in Step 4. If you set a number higher than the bank holds, they see every question.
Each card shows the question; flipping it shows the correct answer. The other choices and the explanation aren't shown on flashcards.
Learners mark their own recall and see a score at the end: Congratulations! at 70% or higher, or Keep Practicing... below that. This is a self-assessment and isn't tracked or reported.
Things to know
Every question in the bank can appear. You can't hide individual questions from learners. To keep a question out of rotation, delete it.
Questions are always three-choice multiple choice with exactly one correct answer, whether generated or added by hand.
No sorting or filters. Generated questions stay in the order they were generated, and questions you add appear at the end.
