Creating and Managing Channels in PlusPlus

PlusPlus Channels are a powerful way to organize and distribute content within your organization. This article will guide you through the process of creating a channel, adding content items, and managing channel settings.

Creating a New Channel

To create a new channel in PlusPlus:

1. Enable Channels - Currently PlusPlus Super Admins will need to enable Channels for your tenant in global settings -> Super Admin. Please make a request through support or our CSM, Michael Wallace, to get started.

2. Create a Channel - Once Channels are enabled, from the Content Menu - > +New button, scroll down until you see the Channel icon and click on it

You can also create a new channel from the Content Items Dashboard

3. Name the Channel - Under Details -> Title enter a name for your channel (e.g., "PlusPlus General").

4. Complete Channel details - Upload a channel image or select a default one.

5. Keep scrolling down and choose a color theme for your channel.

6. Set the channel owner which is typically the person creating the channel.

7. Configure visibility settings (public or private) using the same familiar Access Control standards used for all content on the platform.

8. Adjust permissions for content creation.

9. Click "Save" to create the channel.

Adding Content to a Channel

Once your channel is created, you can add existing content items:

1. Go to the Dashboard and select "Content Items."

2. Under the Name column - Click on any of the Content items you want to add where you can add only one content item or multiple

Note, currently, there is no bulk selection option for adding multiple items to a channel at once. Adding items individually may take some time, especially if you have numerous content pieces. We are working on adding this capability soon.

3. Select the appropriate channel from the dropdown menu.

4. Finally, save your changes by clicking Submit.

Managing Channel Content

To view and manage your channel's content:

1. Navigate to your newly created channel

2. Review the list of content items displayed.

3. To add more content, return to the Content Items Dashboard and repeat the process of adding items to the channel.

To edit Channel details, from the 3 dots, (ellipses) click Edit

Creating Additional Channels

Consider creating separate Channels for different purposes:

  • An Archive Channel for older or less frequently accessed content

  • Specialized channels for specific departments or topics (e.g., "Engineering Channel")

Best Practices and Considerations

  • Organize strategically: Group related content together in channels for easy access

  • Review permissions: Ensure the right people have access to create and view content in each channel

  • Update regularly: Keep your channels current by adding new content and archiving outdated materials

Other considerations:

  • Creating channels with the toggles off

To create a channel (Admins only) with the visibility toggles disabled browse to your tenant specific URL, slightly different for each customer:

  • Example: https://demo.plusplus.app/channels/create/

To edit (Admins only) with the toggle disabled off:

  • Example: https://demo.plusplus.app/channels/general

Future Improvements

While using PlusPlus, you may notice areas for potential enhancement:

  • A bulk selection option for adding multiple content items to a channel simultaneously.

  • The ability to select all items across multiple pages

  • A column in the content list view showing which channel each item belongs to.

Please reach out to our team with any feedback as your suggestions can be valuable for us to improve the user experience in future updates.
