PlusPlus 101: Foster coaching and mentorship with Connections

Learn how to find the people in your org who have the knowledge or expertise you need to empower your own work

Written by Chris Ramlow

Scenario

You want to find people in your org to learn from or get help from. This might be because you're stuck in a task or project and need technical support from someone with specific expertise, or because you want to have an ongoing relationship with someone who can help you grow your career or master a certain skill.

Solution

Go to Connections in PlusPlus. This space is designed to make it easy for you to find the people in your org who have the knowledge or expertise to get you un-stuck, to help you develop your career, or to help you learn a new skill. Here's how it works.

Your connections

At the top of the page, Connections groups your go-to people into three sections so you can see at a glance who you're already connected to:

  • My Audience — people you create content for and whose engagement you're driving

  • My Participants — people who have attended or enrolled in events, sessions, and other content you run

  • My Experts — experts you've engaged content from, surfacing the people whose knowledge you've already tapped into

Each section includes a View all link to see the full list, and the sections you see depend on your role and activity in PlusPlus.

Suggested Office Hours and Mentorship Programs

Below your connections, Connections curates two suggestion strips based on your role and content engagement history:

  • Suggested Office Hoursoffice hour series covering topics likely relevant to your current work

  • Suggested Mentorship Programsmentorship programs matched to your career trajectory and interests

Both strips show the top suggestions with a View All link to see more. These give you an easy way to connect with subject matter experts in your org for both ad-hoc help (office hours) and ongoing growth (mentorship).

Searching and filtering

Not sure who you need to connect with? At the top of Connections, you can:

  • Search using the free-text search box, with the placeholder "Search by name, title, skills..."

  • Sort the directory using the Sort by dropdown (for example, by impact on the org's people)

  • Filter using the inline Location and Groups dropdowns

  • Open More Filters for a deeper set of filters, including: My audience, My attendance, My experts, Org lead, Manager, Teammate, Skills, Mentor preferences, and Mentee preferences

Rich bios

When you select someone, you view their profile with a rich bio: testimonials from other people in your org, the content they've engaged or own, and their enablement impact as a whole. All this info helps you find the people that are the best match for your needs and enablement goals.
