Scenario
As a learner, you want to find a track (a sequential learning path with diverse content types) and understand how to work through and complete it.
Solution
Go to the OnDemand Catalog.
Set the Content type to Tracks.
Browse available tracks and select one to take.
Click Start.
Work through each step.
How a step gets completed depends on what kind of content it is. Some steps complete on their own, some need a button, and some are finished elsewhere entirely. See What completes each step type for the details.
Click Next to move to the following step. Moving on does not complete the step you are leaving, and you can jump between steps at any time using the track items list on the left side of the page.
On the last step the button becomes Exit, or Finish once the whole track is complete.
Rate the step, if you want to.
A Feedback option appears next to a step once you have completed it. Rating is optional.
Complete all required track steps.
What completes each step type
Article — Reading to the end of the article completes it. Mark Complete is available too, if you would rather not scroll.
Video — Watching past the percentage the video's owner set completes it. While that percentage is set, the button reads Watch to Complete and cannot be clicked, so watching is the only way to finish it. If the owner set the percentage to 0, you get a clickable Mark Complete instead.
Link — Depends on how the link is set up. Either you click Mark Complete yourself once you are done with the external page, or simply clicking Open completes it. PlusPlus tells you which applies before it opens the link.
Course — Click Launch and finish the course in its own player. The button becomes Continue while you are partway through, and Review or Relaunch once you are done. There is no Mark Complete button.
Codelab — Same pattern: Launch, then Continue, then Relaunch. Completion comes from working through the codelab.
Assessment — Click Launch or Resume to take it. Once finished it becomes Review, with Retake alongside it when the assessment is set to a fixed number of attempts and you have some left.
Event or event series — Pick a session and attend it. Enrolling moves the step to In Progress, and being checked in to the session completes it. There is no completion button.
Task — Click Mark Complete once you have done it.
A track inside a track — Click Start or Resume to work through it, then Review once it is complete.
When a step has no completion at all
If a step shows no way to complete it, the content owner may have turned completion off for that item.
Articles and links have a Completable setting, which controls whether people can save, complete, and rate that item. When it is switched off there is no Mark Complete button, and an article will not complete itself no matter how far you read — the step simply is not something you finish.
Articles and links are the only content types that offer this switch. Everything else is completable.
