Automatic Timezone Updates

To ensure users always see event times that align with their current location, our system automatically updates a user’s timezone based on where they are. This feature makes it easy for users to discover events that fit their schedule, regardless of their physical location.

Friendly To My Time Filter

The Friendly To My Time event filter allows users to easily discover both online and in-person events that fit into their timezone-aware schedule. This enhancement offers a more personalized and accessible event browsing experience for users, no matter where they are.

Understanding the Locations Dashboard

The Locations Dashboard plays an essential role in managing and linking event locations to various content items. While the dashboard may initially appear simple with a few configuration options, it is crucial for properly organizing your events, ensuring they are associated with the correct timezone and location.

Accessing the Locations Dashboard

To access the Locations Dashboard:

  1. Go to the top-right corner of the page and open the Profile Menu.

  2. Navigate to Dashboard.

  3. Scroll to find Locations Dashboard near the bottom of the left-hand menu.

Managing Locations: Creating and Editing

In the Locations Dashboard, admins can manage existing locations or create new ones.

Adding a New Location

  1. Click on the Add Location button.

  2. A form will appear, prompting you to fill in several fields. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*), while others are optional.

  3. Select the closest appropriate Timezone for the location. This selection ensures that the timezone appears correctly in events and event series linked to this location.

Important Note: You can enter any text in the Name field without character limitations. However, be cautious to pair the location with the correct timezone. For example, if you name a location "Arizona, USA," but select an incorrect timezone, the events may display the wrong time for users in that area.

  1. Once all fields are filled in, click Save to add the location to the system. You can now select this location when creating or editing event types and events.

    • If you change your mind, you can click Back in your browser to cancel the operation.

Editing an Existing Location

To edit an existing location:

  1. Find the location in the list.

  2. Click on the three dots on the far right of the location.

  3. Select Edit to modify the details.

Exporting Location Data

To export location data, select the location(s) you want and click Export CSV. This will generate a report detailing all selected locations, along with the number of events and event types associated with each location.

Deleting Locations

From the Actions drop-down menu, you can select Delete All Selected to remove multiple locations at once. Please note that deleted locations cannot be recovered.

End-User Experience

For end users, the automatic time zone update ensures that they see all events, both online and in-person, in their current time zone, no matter where they are. This is particularly helpful for online events that cater to a global audience and for in-person events where accuracy is essential for the user’s local time. With the Friendly To My Time filter, users can easily discover events that fit seamlessly into their schedule.
