Why Use Videos on PlusPlus?

Videos are an incredibly effective way to convey complex information and engage your team members in the learning process. With PlusPlus you can link to your own video content, share that highly technical tutorial from YouTube, and make it all discoverable to your org. You can assign videos to team members as a one-off or integrate them into learning paths with PlusPlus tracks.

Here's a quick rundown of why you should consider using videos on PlusPlus:

1. Easy Integration: PlusPlus allows you to link to your own video content or share external videos, including those from YouTube and other supported sources.

2. Versatile Assignment: You can assign videos to team members individually or incorporate them into customized learning paths using PlusPlus tracks.

3. Tracking and Completion: PlusPlus tracks video engagement automatically, marking videos as started or completed based on user interaction. Videos can even be resumed from where they left off if a viewer needs to pause and return later.

4. Personalized Learning: Team members can save videos for later, making it convenient for them to revisit valuable content.

See How to upload videos for more on the details you can update.

Supported Embeddable Video Sources

PlusPlus offers effortless integration with a range of popular video sources, seamlessly tracking video completion for certain platforms. However, technical constraints currently prevent this feature from being feasible for others, such as Google Drive & SharePoint.

These supported embeddable video formats ensure a hassle-free viewing experience within the PlusPlus platform.

Popular embeddable video with auto complete support:

  • YouTube

  • SoundCloud

  • Facebook

  • Vimeo

  • Twich

  • Streamable

  • Wistia

  • DailyMotion

  • Mixcloud

  • Vidyard

  • HTML5-compatible video streams, including H.264-encoded MP4, VP8/VP9/AV1-encoded WebM, Theora-encoded OGV, MP3 audio, HLS (m3u8) defined HTTP live streaming playlist, and DASH (mpd) defined adaptive media.

At PlusPlus, we recognize that enterprise security measures may present challenges and limitations in fully offering certain features. This includes scenarios where not all video formats support auto-completion tracking.

Formats with no auto complete support:

  • Google Drive

  • Microsoft SharePoint

  • Loom

  • Panopto

  • Descript

Expand Your Video Sources

In addition to the supported sources, PlusPlus offers the flexibility to add custom URL video sources from your proprietary platform. This allows you to harness the power of your unique video content within the PlusPlus ecosystem. Learn more about adding custom video sources in our guide.

Embedding Videos in PlusPlus Articles

It's worth mentioning that PlusPlus articles enable you to embed videos directly into your content. While embedded videos cannot be individually tracked for auto-completion or assigned to specific individuals or tracks, they provide an additional avenue for sharing video content within the platform.

Note for videos which we don't have progress data on, the progress column shows "N/A" instead of "0%". There is now a new "Completed On" column which shows the date the item was completed - previously for a video with no interactions you can see it is marked complete but not were unable to see when
