Scenario

As an admin or content owner, you want to share eLearning content (developed in SCORM, for example) with your org.

Solution

Upload eLearning courses to the PlusPlus platform, following these steps.

But first, make sure courses are enabled in your instance of PlusPlus.

  1. Go to the Catalog and click New > Course.

    The New Course dialog opens.

  2. Click upload a course file and select the course you want to upload from your file explorer.

  3. Click Import.
The Importing course file dialog opens, stating that the import may take a few minutes. You can navigate away from the dialog if you want to, and you'll receive an email once the course is fully uploaded.

Once the import is done, you are navigated to the New course page where you can edit and publish it.
Or, if you leave the dialog before the import finishes, the email you receive about completion has a link to the New course page.

  4. Enter the course Title.

  5. Enter the Estimated Duration for the course.

  6. Click Save.
The course is added to the Catalog and is discoverable for team members.
You are navigated to the course landing page.

  7. To make sure everything looks the way you want it to, open the context menu (button with three dots) and select Preview.
The preview of the course opens, allowing you to see what team members will see when they take the course.
Note that the Preview feature is not available for cmi5 courses.

More course details

In addition to the settings mentioned above, you can add the following details to your course.

  • Turn on the Inline item option to make the course visible only in tracks to which it is added.

  • Add a cover image to help draw attention to the course in the Catalog.
If you do not add a cover image, the system selects a generic image for you.

  • Add Categories and Tags to make the course more discoverable.

  • Select a Maintainer who can act as a facilitator for the course, with permission to edit course details and manage course assignments. You can also add Co-Maintainer(s) for more course facilitators.
The person who performed the import is automatically listed as the maintainer.

  • Add Time to complete if you want course assignees to complete it in a certain amount of time.

  • Add links or suggest office hours as additional resources for the course.

  • Attach surveys to the course to solicit feedback from those who take it.

  • Set Access Control for the course.

  • Configure whether Feedback is public (everyone can see the star ratings given for the course).
This is a cascaded setting set at the System Settings level, but you can override the setting for a particular course.

  • Configure Notifications for course assignments and surveys.
These are also cascaded settings, but you can configure notifications for a particular course as needed.
